Perspective: Amspec become a Chartered Building Company

Amspec become a Chartered Building Company

To become a Chartered Building company, the key requirements are that at least half of board directors are Chartered and at least 25% Members or Fellows of CIOB. The company must have been trading for at least two years. As our Construction Director, Mike Wignall had achieved his MCIOB status in 2017, it made sense that Andrew Maxwell, with his extensive industry experience, applied for his FCIOB - the highest chartered grade. Andrew achieved this in 2021 which allowed us progress with our application to be a chartered builder.

The CIOB is the most influential professional body for construction management and leadership, with around 50,000 members in more than 100 countries. Chartered Membership is comparable to a Bachelor’s degree and is recognised internationally.

Organisations chartered with CIOB are independently assessed and regularly audited. They can demonstrate that they:

  • Are competently and professionally run
  • Operate to high business and ethical standards
  • Are committed to developing a fully qualified workforce
  • Have a significant number of directors that are already Chartered, either with CIOB or other built environment organisations.

Thank you to Bruntwood, CBRE, QVC and Hayvern Electrical for providing client references to allow us to progress with our application.

This is an exciting step forward for Amspec in demonstrating our continued commitment to the construction industry and to maintaining high standards on all our projects.
