Lower Campfield
Once home to the Science and Industry Museum’s Air and Space Hall, the Grade II-listed Lower Campfield Market Hall is now undergoing an exciting transformation. Working closely with Allied London, we were proud to contribute bespoke joinery that celebrates the building’s heritage while aligning with a modern, sustainable approach.
Designed as a hub for professionals in the tech industry, Lower Campfield is set to welcome a new generation of up-and-coming tech companies. The space needed to reflect both the innovation of its future tenants and the industrial legacy of its past.
As part of our commitment to sustainable joinery, we salvaged timber from the original mezzanine floor during demolition. Instead of discarding it, we repurposed the wood to create bespoke wall panelling throughout the building. Each panel retains the natural patina and aged texture of the original timber, offering warmth, depth and a connection to the site’s history.
This reuse not only reduced waste but created a key design feature – rich in character, authenticity and completely unique.
In addition to the panelling, we manufactured a range of bespoke joinery elements, including a terrazzo-tiled coffee bar and an upstairs bar for serving alcohol. Every piece was designed to complement the building’s industrial past while supporting its new role as a vibrant, flexible space for modern use.
