The Island

We were proud to partner with Henry Boot Developments on the fit-out of The Island in Manchester, delivering bespoke joinery for both the reception area and rooftop terrace of this contemporary workspace, designed to support modern, forward-thinking businesses.

In the reception, we manufactured a bespoke tiled host desk – a bold, tactile centrepiece crafted from high-quality tiles and durable Solidsurface. Designed to make a lasting first impression, the desk offers a seamless finish that’s both resilient and fully customisable to suit any brand identity or interior scheme.

Within the collaborative workspace, we created a bespoke bar featuring rich tiled panelling and warm, tonal finishes. Integrated shelving and overhead lighting add both functionality and architectural interest, creating a practical and inviting breakout area.

A standout feature of the scheme is our in-house designed Ligna Cell ceiling system. Made from walnut-veneered, interlocking open-cell timber tiles, it delivers a refined, seamless finish while meeting and exceeding commercial fire safety standards (Class B s1 d0). Fully removable for access to services, the system discreetly integrates lighting, ventilation grilles and emergency fittings within a clean, elegant grid.

To complete the project, we fitted out the rooftop terrace – transforming it into a functional, social space with city views. With durable finishes, built-in seating and timber detailing, the terrace offers tenants a high-quality outdoor environment for informal meetings, events or moments of calm away from the desk – combining design-led features with everyday usability.
